We’ve already added a new scenario to reward you for getting us nominated! Now as we enter the final contest, we’re (once again) fighting an uphill battle with some bigger players, so we’ve revised the offerings as extra incentive for you to help push us into the top 20. For the final voting:
Making the top twenty in the overall category: THREE additional treasures
Being in the top three in anycategory: An additional card, either a treasure or a wound, voted on by backers. This can apply to several categories, with a new card for each top three spot!
Once again, tweets, facebook and any other medium you can think of should be used to promote the competition before it ends.
And now, for an out and out bribe...
In addition to the bonus items mentioned above, we have an incentive for you all to vote for Perdition's Mouth: Free Games!
Once you’ve voted, please email us at [email protected] to tell us you voted for PM and you’ll be entered into our special contest for free copies of Black Hat, our hacker themed board game (a $45 value). There will be six winners drawn from those who both vote and email us, so your odds of winning are pretty good! (Prize includes free shipping to the US or EU. Elsewhere will require the winner to pay $15 for shipping.)
If you’re short on time, you can focus on the key categories of overall, innovative, cooperative, and horror. But we’re also nominated for solitaire, thematic, and fantasy, and every vote counts.
Voting is only open until Sunday, January 24th, so don’t wait!
BackerKit progress update
About 74% of backers have replied, but some have experienced problems with receiving the survey email. If you have NOT received the survey email, please do the following:
If you have a spam filter or internet security software, or if you use a Microsoft based email service (such as hotmail.com or outlook.com, etc), you might need to allow emails from [email protected] by adding it to your address book or whitelist, or otherwise allow it through your filter.
Click here to request a replacement survey. If it doesn’t appear in your mailbox within 15 minutes, contact us via EMAIL, please, and we’ll respond with your personalized backerkit login URL.
If you do not get a response from us within 24 hours, assume that we did not receive your email and resend it. We will do our very best to be responsive.
For those of you wondering, Backerkit should be open until mid-February, but we won’t know an exact close date until it gets a little closer. We strongly encourage you to complete your surveys and pledge process as soon as you can.
Hideout ready for playtesting
We have completed the maps and scenarios for the Hideout expansion, and we’d love to get your feedback on it. We’ve done extensive playtesting already, but it’s always good to have more people running through the scenarios and getting their opinions.
If you’re interested in playing through these fiendishly difficult scenarios, please email us at [email protected] and we’ll send you a copy of the files to print and play. We can’t wait for you to get your hands on them!
As a tease, here’s the other side of the map, which you haven’t seen until now:
If you’re not keen on tinkering with the PnP set, we also provide easy testing via Vassal. If you haven’t visited the Perdition’s Mouth’s Vassal page recently, take a look. Legendary playtester Byron has updated the file with numerous interface improvements like “Discard” and “Reshuffle” options for all card decks and the ability to mark hero figures as dead without removing them from the board.
Update 1.3 will include maps and scenarios for the Hideout and the Rubble Room (the second level of PM’s main campaign). Once again, email us and we’ll provide you simple instructions on how to play Perdition’s Mouth digitally. Vassal is free and works with any modern operating system.
Miniatures Update
We’ve completed work on the miniatures for Niffil, Tharnix, and the Chi’leen.
Credit for these awesome designs goes to our excellent and hard working miniatures team.
The last miniature to be completed is the Rotikka, which should be done within the next ten days. That will keep us ahead of schedule for having the molds made in February.
Are you good with Indesign?
Our team needs one more Indesign expert to help us with layout tasks for a few weeks. If you think you have the skills & motivation, please contact us and we’ll discuss the details and agree on compensation. We still plan to get everything done by the end of February, so our timeline is rather rigid.
Update #47: Final Funding Details, Unlocks, and Backerkit
almost 9 years ago
– Wed, Jan 06, 2016 at 08:39:26 PM
Final Funding Details
Thanks to all of you, including our Paypal backers, we’ve raised $84,799 and reached 706 backers!
This means that not only will Mogba’gh be included in every $99 (or higher) tier of Perdition’s Mouth, it also means that the much requested “Chests & Doors” miniatures will be made available as an add-on for Exclusive tier (and up) backers for only $3. Retail tier and Pre-Order backers will be able to get them for only $12.
Note: Mogba’gh will probably be made available separately later on (but not included in retail channel editions).
And since we also exceeded our goal of 700 backers, everyone gets to enjoy the Variable Response Deck, which will be included with every copy of Perdition’s Mouth.
The Variable Response Deck lets you further tune the game to your liking, allowing slight changes in average values and standard deviation. The main rulebook will include details and suggestions on using it in your game.
Art Upgrade
We’ve also received suggestions about improving the Response Deck art, so we asked Jamie Noble to take another look at it. We’re very glad he did, and we think you’ll be just as pleased with the result! He came up with new cult themed art, which is an awesome improvement and really fits in nicely with the game’s overall feel.
Note: In the final deck only about 24% of the cards will have the “eye” symbol on them.
BackerKit
Backerkit openstomorrow (7th Jan, 2016) and you’ll all be sent the links to finalize your orders. Sometimes it can take a day for all the links to get into your mailboxes, so please be patient. If you don’t see it by the 8th, check your spam filters and let us know if it’s not there.
Schedule and Progress
We’re nicely on schedule. All art and miniatures are commissioned and paid for. The last two minis are still in design and 8 master copies remain to be printed. Then the master copies will be shipped to the mold manufacturer in the first half of February.
We’ve written the entire rulebook, as well as over 80% of the scenarios. The rest will be completed over the next three weeks, so that by end of January all writing tasks should be completed with just layouts left to be done.
And lastly, we just finished the last of the remaining base scenario levels - a new addition - the “Rubble Room”:
All-in-all, we are ahead of schedule!
UPDATE 46: Goals Close, Thumbs Needed
– Sat, Jan 02, 2016 at 08:32:02 PM
Happy New Year from the whole PM Team! We’ll keep this update short and sweet. As it really gets down to the wire we have two goals we want to reach by Wednesday:
Variable response deck
As of this writing we need only 5 more backers (at any amount) to unlock this cool addition to the game. Whether you want your game more predictable, more uncertain, or just more challenging, this will add diversity and even more replay value to Perdition's Mouth.
Chests & Doors Miniatures
This much asked for add-on is now “unlocked” for backerkit! At the current level of funding, as an add-on it would cost $16 per set. But the more funding we get in the next four days, the lower that price goes. Of course our goal is to reach $85,000 and unlock them for ALL Kickstarter Exclusive boxes!
And since we don’t want to leave anyone out, the price for kickstarter retail level backers will also drop as funding increases, down to $15/set.
Your Thumbs are Needed
Perdition’s Mouth is competing as one of BoardGameGeek’s Most Anticipated Games of 2016, and we need your help! We started strong, making the first page of the thread and hitting the top 10 easily. It looks like all those holiday treats have taken their toll though and weighed us down a little.
But have no fear! Currently the difference between us and the top ten is only about 30 thumbs, and I know we have many more fans that could easily help push us back into the upper echelons. The nominations run until January 9th, so we need to keep our voting strong until then. When we make the final round, Timo will design two new treasure cards to be added to every copy of the game.
Timo has also promised the following additional incentives:
Start the official voting period in the top ten: Two additional treasures
Start the official voting period in the top five: Two additional scenarios
Win any category: An additional card, either a treasure or a wound, voted on by backers.
So hit that green thumb button on PM and show the rest of the world that we’re all looking forward to some co-op horror adventuring in 2016!
Backerkit
Just a reminder that our target survey date is January 7th, so barring any unforeseen circumstances, you should see something in your inbox next Thursday.
#45: Christmas update - videos, pictures and santa's surprises
almost 9 years ago
– Fri, Dec 25, 2015 at 10:44:48 PM
Dear backer,
We had a visit by Santa yesterday, he lives in the neighborhood, after all. After a cup of tea it was evident that he had two particularly interesting topics that he wanted to talk;
He had presents that he asked me to find their rightful owners. That took some sampling and we decided it's best provided to you as a video, to keep the tension at maximum (which fits very well for Perdition's Mouth, I think). Enjoy! And congrats for the winners.
Santa had spoken with Simma and had found out that there is a rather bleak future prospects for himself. Simma had shown this art (below) for Santa and told that One True God had revealed that Cult need to be beaten down before next Christmas or this becomes reality. Wow - what a challenge. But I guess we're all up to challenges? Aren't we?
This unique art piece looks very much like it'd be made to be a VICTIM CARD (value of Response) so we've decided to print this rather interesting piece as our Christmas present to ALL OF YOU to every Kickstarter copy (including those paid through Paypal) of Perdition's Mouth. Let's together help Santa to avoid the cult -- so he could visit us and you next year as well.
We've also gotten a Christmas present from one of our backers, mr. Bum Yong Kim from USA. He is clearly hot on 3D terrain and which of us wouldn't be? We loaned the Perdition's Mouth demo kit for him and found out how you could play the first level (Entrance) with 3D map. Awesome, isn't it?
And few of the best views as stills, included below.
One Goal Reached / A New Contest / Surveys and Paypal / A Sneak Peek
almost 9 years ago
– Wed, Dec 23, 2015 at 10:54:11 PM
Hello everyone, we’ve got lots of news for you in our final update before Christmas, so buckle up.
Mogba’gh Unlocked!
Thanks to all of you spreading the word and getting more fans and backers to pledge via Paypal, we’ve passed the amount needed to unlock The Mad Shaman! Now all Kickstarter Exclusive editions of the game will have EIGHT heroes in the box! Great job everyone :) I know Timo is super excited to see this guy included.
We need your votes! BoardGameGeek top 20 anticipated Games
The annual “Most Anticipated Games of 2016” contest is now open on BoardGameGeek, and Perdition’s Mouth has been nominated! We need you all to immediately go give a thumbs up to it in the list so we can rise to the top and make it into the voting round.
As an incentive, if PM gets enough thumbs to make it into the voting round, Timo will design two new treasure cards to be added to every copy of the game. There are already over 180 games nominated (and that number will grow), but only 50 can make it into the voting round, so let’s get thumbing!
Backerkit Surveys and Paypal Backing Extended
We have a confession to make: this is the first time we are using Backerkit, and we didn’t do our homework when it came to the holiday schedule. Since the good folks at Backerkit will be spending the holiday with their families rather than working, our surveys won’t go out until January 7th.
But have no fear, this won’t delay the rest of the process, as we built some time off for the dev team into the schedule anyway.
A happy side effect is that we will be able to accept Paypal pledges until January 6th! So anyone that was waiting for a holiday bonus or a check from grandma can still pledge or upgrade directly for a little while longer. Let’s get those Chests & Doors unlocked!
Speaking of more backers - Variable Response Decks are close
We are only ELEVEN new backers away from unlocking the Variable Response Deck. For more information on that goody, check out Update #41.
A Sneak Peek at the Hideout
And finally, we have an early look at the game’s first above-ground location - The Hideout! This is the initial design, by awesome artist Jamie Noble, of one side of the map board included in the same expansion that introduces Neshilim to the story.
This is before lighting and shadow effect have been added, but it looks great already!
That’s all for now. Our next communication should be in a few days when the drawing for Ben’s fabulous offer of painted miniatures takes place. Watch your inbox for an announcement from Timo! Until then, stay safe and have a wonderful holiday week!
